Ellar, an ancient town located on several hills about 17 km north of the city of Tulkarem on the road connecting Tulkarem province with Jenin province.The town is surrounded from three sides by green mountains planted with mostly olive trees and almonds as well as apricots and grape trees, the western side is an open plain that extends to the mediteranian sea .

It is believed that the name Ellar or Illar was derived from a Roman name that means the (High Place) ,Ellar's history goes beyond 3000 years .There are two incient towns located withen the boundaries of Ellar....Masseen in the southeast and Beit Sama in the west .
